In this lesson, you will hear Major 7ths played upwards, then play them on your instrument.
When trying to recognize an ascending Major 7th, use the “completing the melody” strategy.
Imagine the 7th resolving up a half step to the Octave.
You can also imagine the 7th resolving down a whole step to a Major 6th.
However, this sounds awfully similar to the melody example we learned for a Major 6th, so don’t be fooled.
